If it's anything like previous years, you can expect that many varieties may sell out quickly. If early website traffic is any indicator this may be another very busy year! There continues to be an increasing demand in fruit trees and edible planting and I'm very excited to see more people using their yard space for growing food in any form. I also appreciate everyone getting the word out and letting people know all across Northern Ontario that we are the best place to get your hardy fruit trees that are guaranteed to succeed in our climate.
The stock listed on the website may change slightly before opening but I don't expect too many shortages or changes this season. The prices should all be accurate for this season as well, if you want to start making your lists for opening day!
We will open for picks up and on site sales the first weekend in May, so this year I'm planning to open May 3rd. When you place your order you will be able to schedule a pick up time for your trees. Our hours will remain unchanged again this year.
I will only be able to accept orders through the website so please don't email me to put anything aside for you (unfortunately I usually loose track and it leads to disappointment...sorry). I will try to send a few reminder emails so everyone has the same opportunity to place your orders starting March 26th at 10AM.
We also planning to host another day of pruning and grafting workshops on site at the farm, planned for March 23rd. We are also planning to host a similar workshop this spring at Season's Pharmacy. (still determining a date). Also if anyone or any other groups in the city and surrounding area are interested in hosting any workshops please reach out to me and I'd be happy to talk further. I had a great time last spring doing 2 days of workshops at St. Joseph's Island.
Here is a discussion about grafting and scion collection for anyone interested. It would help to understand some of the concepts and terminology in advance. I am also hoping that some people might have some interesting scions they would like to share from there trees.
I was very impressed by this video created by the team at Sudbury Shared Harvest to discuss some of the impacts of industrial agriculture and importance of supporting local agriculture and the benefits of food forests. Sounds like the are once again planning lots of great activities this year.
Of course if for some reason you are not satisfied we respectfully ask that you reach out so we can rectify the issue, instead of leaving a negative review.
